Aqua de Cristallo Tributo a Modigliani has been named in the Guinness Book of World Records for "the most expensive bottle in the world". The world's most expensive water is sold in a 750ml 24-carat solid gold bottle, which sells for € 60,000- or about $ 72,000 USD. It was designed by Fernando Altamirano of Tequila Ley (who designed the Cognac Dudognon Heritage Henri IV bottle, which is the most expensive bottle of cognac in the world).
The reason for its high price
- Each bottle of Aqua de Cristallo contains water from three points on the earth. Part of it comes from springs in France, the other part from springs in Fiji. Finally, one-third of the water in each bottle is sourced from glacier in Iceland.
- Each bottle is actually sprinkled with 5mg of 24k gold.
- Aside from the luxury factor, spraying a little on the metal can actually add to the alkalinity of the water.
